Energy supply and infrastructure play a major role in modern office buildings. A look behind the facade shows that the MAIN TOWER is also state-of-the-art in this arena.
Intelligent air-conditioning and the economic use of natural resources make the MAIN TOWER a low-energy building. For example, it obtains its heat not only from its own block-type thermal power station, but from a geothermal energy system that extends up to 50 m deep into the ground. Over 80,000 meters of plastic pipe were installed in order to convey heat with great efficiency and ensure pleasant temperatures all year round. The result: a low annual energy consumption of 75 KWh/m2 - quite possibly a record!
The MAIN TOWER also boasts top-class ratings for its elevator technology. With speeds of up to 7 m a second (25.2 km/h), the 23 passenger elevators are some of the fastest in Germany. The refined aerodynamics of the cabins are the reason why they move so smoothly. The design was even tested on a NASA simulation computer (the National Aeronautics and Space Administration agency in the U.S.).
